Cansford Laboratories, Charter for Employers and the NHS Mindful Employer Scheme

Cansford Laboratories is a signatory and supporter of the NHS Mindful Employer scheme which supports and encourages businesses and organisations to lead from the front in relation to staff and workplace mental health issues.

Supporting our staff

Cansford already has robust mental health policies and plans in place, including trained mental health first aiders, when supporting staff at work – so joining the scheme is a formal declaration that as a business, we take our responsibilities regarding mental health in the workplace very seriously indeed.

There are over 1,200 signatories and counting who have already signed up to the scheme, including ourselves. These signatories range from local authorities, to voluntary organisations and charities, including SME, medium and large businesses across the UK.

About the Mindful Employer Scheme

Founded by NHS Devon Partnership Trust, the Mindful Employer Scheme is unlike other accreditations or quality standards. The Trust says on its website: “Our charter for ‘Employers Positive about Mental Health’ is about recognising those employers who are working towards better mental health in the workplace, no matter where they are in their journey.”

Recognition for mental health positive employers

The Charter for ‘Employers Positive about Mental Health’ is not about comparing employers against one another. Instead, it is about recognising those employers who are working toward achieving better mental health at work, no matter how far along they are in that journey.
